Profile OF LTIA STAFF

MR. KWADZO AMEKO

Mr. Ameko, the son of a diplomat, had on the other hand himself lived in Europe for about ten (10) years where he trained in Veterinary Medicine. Born in East Africa, as a child he spoke, read and wrote fluent Kiswahili. Back in Ghana, he mastered the local languages Twi, Ga and Ewe. Before and during his Veterinary Medicine studies at the University of Leipzig, he learnt Russian and French respectively and in due course during his Veterinary Medicine studies he learnt German, Spanish and French again in self-study.

He also learnt other languages like Dutch and Italian through short holidays in Holland and Italy. In addition, he formally learnt Spanish and French up to the Proficiency level at the Ghana Institute of Languages in Accra, where he also studied the theory and techniques of translation in self-study and through an intensive translation course at the School of Translators of the Institute of Languages. Again, he undertook self-studies in the Scandinavian languages (Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish) as well as in Slavic languages (Czech, Polish and Russian).

The crowning of his endeavours in studying languages would be when he masters Chinese (both spoken and written) and the west-African lingua Hausa.

He has at present (2019) experience of 29 years translation, since his first translations for students of German animal husbandry and veterinary, i.e. English research texts they sorely needed for their thesis work at the University of Leipzig.

In addition he did interpretation in many languages while jobbing as foreman/team leader of foreign students in a construction/cleaning company in Germany. He has had a very varied working experience (Veterinary, Freelance Translation and Interpretation, Foreign Language Tuition, Investment Consultancy), with freelance translation and interpretation being the constant background in almost all the work he has done.

In addition, he is an avid researcher in tourism and investment affairs in general, and above all he has an expert knowledge of many foreign languages since he is a veritable polyglot and language genius, as well as budding poet. He thus personally does translation into and from many foreign languages and personally supervises effectively the outbound work, in whatever language or subject, be it medical, literary or legal etc.

Within our company, Mr. Ameko is also responsible for Dutch language tuition for MVV (Netherlands Multiple Visa) examinations and for general purposes, as well as German and Italian language tuition section.
